Text Box: Books by R.C. Shivers

I have written 2 books, which ironically are completely different in every way, shape and form. Those who know me are probably not surprised by this at all, considering how diverse my interests are. Here’s a good example for ya…..I am a Nascar loving, NY native who is addicted to the beaches of South Carolina, the crooning of Tony Bennett, the sound of a tricked out Harley, my little dog Mook, the tiny Caribbean Island of Jost VanDyke, Scooby Doo Cartoons and the bad-ass attitude of Lynyrd Skynyrd…..

Point being….when you read one of my stories, you never know exactly what you will get!

Check out my Southern based Novel

The old Grayden House had fallen in the earthquake of 1886, but the two new houses that now overlook Charleston Harbor can’t hide the horrors of the slaves that had once worked the plantation.

Will moved into the house at the southern end of the plantation. He could see his beautiful new neighbor from between the window blinds, but could never muster the nerve to speak with her. Libby was starting grad school at the College of Charleston, but her roommates had moved on and the old house on the northern side of the plantation was bigger and more eerie than she had ever imagined when her friends were still there.

Haunting images of a murdered slave girl begin to turn Will’s new life upside down, and Libby is the only one there to help him. Together they find the old sweet grass basket weaver, Minetta. Cataracts cloud the old woman’s eyes, but what she learned as a child from the old Gullah slaves allow her to see more than what’s on the surface. Minetta can help them find the answers they need, but they have to act quickly before the secrets hidden on the old plantation destroy them both. Read a few chapters….

Read my Children’s book ~
“Maddie and Mook and the Message in the Bottle”

Maddie is bored with school, but never tires of exploring and learning on the beach she calls home with her trusted companion, her little dog Mook.

After a long week at school, they can’t wait to get to the beach to begin their search for a pirate’s treasure. They explore the beach for hours and are about to give up for the day when suddenly a sparkle of sunlight glimmering on the waves catches Mook’s attention. To their delight, the sun was shining on an old bottle floating towards the shore. It was a message in a bottle, the treasure that Maddie and Mook had been searching for!

The message in the old bottle starts Maddie on an adventure that leads to new friends and a great adventure to tropical places she could only dream about. Read a few chapters….
